All Things Black and New
Yesterday we got a new big bit of love, our sweet four year old black lab named Starlight. She is from a breeder, was the mom to three rounds of pups. The breeder, friend of a friend of one of our daughters, gives the moms away at that point. Starlight is very cute and cuddly. Our little maltese has yet to warm to her, but I am sure by next week all will be fine! It is comforting to have a larger dog again after the loss of our german shepherd/akita died last year. Of course you never replace a pet, but after a while I think you want that love from the void which is apparent. It is a new day, and we are eager to run forward with both dogs. I usually don't make resolutions, but for the new year, my daughter will have fixed my computer so that I can post pictures!

What Are You Thankful For?
1. My salvation through Christ Jesus is the list topper, for sure! 2. Darling Husband. He is so precious to me that I cannot begin to fully express my sentiments in words except to say that I have never met a finer man in all of my days. 3.My parents. Even though this sounds typical, the older I get, the smarter, kinder and more sacrificial I realize my parents were and still are. It is amazing to me how they never stop giving in an unconditional way. That said, the next thanks would go to my child~grown daughter and stepdaughters and grandchildren. Just pure love and joy! 4. My brother, sister, the rest of my family~love them all! 5. Thanks that I have hands and a working, walking body. 6. I am truly thankful I have a home, some clothes to wear, and do not have to worry about where my next meal will come from. How about you?

Help To Help
I visited one of my favorite blogs, I was knit together in my mother's womb. Lynne stated that she needs some sewing help for women in need. If you are able, hop on over to her glorious blog and read up. Aside from being a wonderful knitter and seamstress, Lynne has much of what this poor gal's blog does not...great pictures and text. Hang in there with me. My exciting life is just around the corner. Really. Last weekend after eldest daughter, her friend and my sweet friend Alicia filled boxes for Operation Christmas Child, I took everyone to lunch. Then Alicia and I went to a yarn store called Twist Yarn. Oh! Such comfort greeted us. Cathy, the owner, is very friendly. She has a small but color filled shop. Many designer brands are available and Cathy was at the ready to serve us in a genuinely courteous manner. I highly recommend visiting this store on line and surely in person, if in the area.

May I Just Say
I was over at Crimson Purl and Stacey was speaking of loss and getting back to working on her blog. It has been a challenge to me to get back. Earlier this year we had a death in our family which truly stunned us; shook every single one on Husband's side of the family to its core. I think this upcoming holiday is going to be difficult. And yet I will always believe that God is good and splendid and glorious. So we will rejoice. And I will continue on with my knitting. The log cabin has turned into a baby blanket. The couple are not expecting, but their colors are black and white, so I started again with worsted, and #9's a few days ago. I am flying! Need to finish a few Christmas gifts also. Make the pictures into a disc and get those onto here. Soon, I think.

A Real 9~1~1 If You Ask Me
I have much to be thankful for: my health is getting better most days, our daughters are well, the grandchildren are thriving, we are happy, our souls are peaceful. I am, however, a lazy person about far too many things. I used to not be this way. When the pressure of a full~time job was upon me and a young one needed what only a mother could give and supper had to be prepared, I seemed to handle too many things better with little time than few things with much time. Does this happen to only me? Take this blog, for example. Husband and I have been home from our trip for a bit now and I have yet to ask one of a couple daughters to help get the pictures up on the computer to show some of the great sights we experienced. I suppose that if I don't do a task one day, it can just go to the next and that turns into laziness. What, I wonder, will zap me out of this funk? And what if it begins to affect my knitting? Can this be inherited? Husband is retiring soon and I do not want him to catch this. Oh, that would be bad. Need. Help.

Jiggity Jog
Home again after five weeks on the road with Husband. It was a pretty wonderful time. We traveled from California to Pennsylvania via our big old lug of a car/truck. Just the two of us with nary a harsh word (for a full day). We are pretty kind to one another, and try to forgive quickly. We toured battlefields of the civil war, viewed the Amish countryside, visited my father, sister and stepmom, my fabulous friend I have known for thirty two years. In Wisconsin we rode the "ducks", those military type land and water vehicles...so much fun! There were so many sights, so much good food. The worst part, aside from coming back, was breaking a KnitPicks wooden Harmony needle (attaching to a cable, naturally )fairly early in the trip and not being able to find a close sized replacement until the near end of our journey. The shop we stopped at was lovely Pioneer Yarn Company in Minden NV. The employee, or perhaps even owner I do not know, was very courteous. The shop has a really great yarn selection. If you ever find yourself in the area, stop by. It is HIGHLY recommended!

And We're Off!
Drivin', drivin', drivin'! It's going to be fun to take a little trip. Leaving family behind to care for animals, and it always seems as if you come back far too soon. Taking some pictures along the way and hopefully the computer will be ready for receiving them upon return.
